About Us

London Search Engine Optimisation Experts - Welcome to Nerdiland

We’re an agency of professional nerds who do what we love to do for a living. You may or may not have been one of those who made fun of the quiet, shy boffins at school who spent all their time in the computer suite – but our experience with the internet and how it works has given us the skill we need – and that you need. All is forgiven, even if you did tease nerds, and we’re more than happy to help you out with all the content and all the tricks you need to optimise your business’s website so that you appear as close to the top of the rankings as possible.

We’ve survived – and learned some valuable lessons about what to do and what not to do – the dot.com boom, bubble and bust; the rise and fall of bitcoin and the massive uptake of social media in all its many forms. With all this experience, we can advise you and set things up so that your website becomes a worthwhile and profitable investment, the way that you want it to.

Get more calls and web enquiries through laser targeted Local London SEO

There’s no denying that these days, most people will use online tools, be it on their smartphones or tablets, or on their laptops or their desktops to find the companies and services they need. Online searches through Google or other engines (e.g. Bing or Yahoo!) have well and truly replaced the use of telephone directories when people want to look something up. Although some means of marketing – word of mouth from satisfied customers, for example – will never go out of style, trying to market your services or products these days without having some sort of online presence is probably as out of date as employing a busboy or errand boy (or girl!) whose job is to send and receive telegrams.

Whether you need help setting up your business’s website from scratch so that you maximise the chances of coming up top in the search rankings, or whether you just need a bit of help tweaking things here and there so that your website is optimised for mobile use or makes the most of the right social media platforms, we’re here to help you.

White Hat SEO - the Team With the White Hats

We’re very proud to say that we use White Hat SEO techniques. If you’re not familiar with the concept of “white hat” SEO, this is a bit of jargon that derives from old-style Western movies, where the hero wore a white hat but the villain wore a black hat. In the world of SEO and Google rankings, white hat SEO techniques are those that the ranking algorithms in all their many forms like – and these algorithms (Panda, Hummingbird, Penguin, etc.) have now got smart enough to reward the sort of thing that readers and users – your potential customers and clients – actually like. This is in contrast with black hat SEO techniques (and their close cousins, “grey hat” SEO), which are horrible, annoying and, in some cases, illegal. In other words, we won’t take your hard-earned money to do things like spamdexing, keyword stuffing, hidden text or ghastly “articles” that sound like they were written by someone pulling words at random out of the dictionary or a machine (and actually were written by a machine in some cases).

We know that although these techniques might have ramped you up the rankings in the early days of the internet or even 10 years ago when PageRank was the ruling algorithm used to evaluate websites and rank them accordingly, but today, these black hat techniques are penalised like anything. (Fun fact: did you know that PageRank is named after one of the founders of Google, Larry Page, rather than just web pages?) Today’s search engine algorithms reward sites that actually will be just what the user is looking for and actually are popular. For example, we’ll used tried and true search engine marketing methods like keyword research (so you know exactly what words and phrases or even sentences you need to have somewhere on your site), juicy little metatags and analysing whether your site is mobile-friendly or not (another thing that’s seriously rewarded by search engines).

We’ll also help you out with one of the big things when it comes to improving your page rank: great content. Content really is king on the internet, no matter what search engine your customers use. If you’ve got good content, then your potential customers will stay longer on your site reading your articles (or watching your videos – some people just search for videos, so learning how to work video searches is important too). They’ll share good articles on Facebook, pin great ideas on Pinterest and re-tweet your great one-liners. They’ll come back to your site for more of the same – and all these things are noted by tools like Google Analytics and other web crawlers.

Local Listings And Rankings - Get Buyers Leads With Local SEO

When it comes to reaching potential customers and clients, it’s not going to be much good to you if the people who see your site at the top of their search results are on the other side of the world (unless your business or service is entirely conducted online). You probably know for yourself how annoying it is when you want to find, say, a nice little local restaurant or somewhere near you where you can get your sofa reupholstered or whatever, and what comes up on the first page of the Google results is a business that’s fantastic but is in the middle of Alabama or Albania or Australia. The introduction of another member of Google’s zoo of page ranking algorithms – Google Pigeon – has helped to overcome this problem.

Google Pigeon uses Google Maps (funny that!) and matches up the searcher’s location with the businesses or organisations appropriate to the search terms that are located nearby. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if someone looking for a lawyer, restaurant, furniture store or hot tub supplier (or whatever) finds one in the neighbourhood, he or she is more likely to actually take his/her business to said company. Of course, there are a number of tricks of the trade that will help you improve your local search engine rankings, and that’s one of the things that we can help you out with. After all, this is 2019, and the SEO techniques that worked back in 2009 might not work quite as well.

Social Media Marketing - Getting Business Leads is Fun

Social media has become part of our daily lives – it’s not just for cool young people these days, and just about everybody has a personal Facebook account – at least! Because social media platforms are awesome for creating high quality backlinks (something that still counts in the world of SEO and online marketing) as well as for generating organic site traffic and page visits, knowing how to make social media work for your business is important.

There’s a lot to consider with using social media for marketing your business online. Can you get away with just having a social media account for your business or do you need a proper website with its own domain name? Which social media platforms should you use to get in touch with your target audience: Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube…? Should you pay extra for advertising space on social media or invest in sponsored suggestions? How do I strike the balance between being mobile-friendly and having great visual content? There are so many questions you can and should ask.

We’ve got a bunch of experts on our team who know the ins and outs of social media, and we can assist you with your social media marketing strategy, whether you’re just getting started or whether you want to give your existing profile a bit of a boost.

Please get in touch with us and we’ll have a chat about what SEO tips, tricks and strategies will work best for you and your business.
